Are you considering a personalised logo mat for your business? For a start, they serve as a barrier tool for collecting dirt from footwear, while also helping to preserve indoor air quality and reduce the likelihood of slips and falls.

By incorporating a doormat with your logo, this isn't just a simple show of business status, but a display of your professionalism as a company. By making your entrance a focal point with a customised mat, you're paving the way for a positive and lasting first impression, which should be an important consideration for every business.

At Make an Entrance, we have over three decades of experience in supplying professional high-quality coir mats to businesses in a range of sectors. The Role of Logo Doormats in Brand Recognition

It's no secret that good impressions are hugely important for creating a positive relationship with both current and potential clients. By a simple thing such as placing a custom logo mat at your entrance, you're not only displaying a signal of business status but also a reminder of your company, and this shows to be an effective marketing tool when people or businesses remember your brand. With this simple added decor, you can make a lasting impression on your brand image, which makes custom logo mats such an effective tool.

Visual Branding at the First Step

By incorporating logo entrance matting in your doorway, you're essentially creating the first point of interaction between a business and its visitors, making this an important step in your visual branding strategy. A well-designed branded door mat can subtly elevate a company's logo and brand message, which will embed the brand identity in the minds of visitors from the moment they step inside. According to the Influencer Marketing Hub, consistent branding across all platforms can increase company revenue by up to 23%.

Creating Memorable Experiences

One of the most important things to consider is that customised logo mats can create a small but memorable brand experience. With a slick logo design or a catchy slogan inlaid into the material, a custom-branded door mat can leave a lasting impression on visitors. Research indicates that customers are more likely to remember a brand that presents itself consistently across different touchpoints, including the physical entrance of a business.

Standing Out from the Competition

In today's competitive market, standing out from the crowd is essential for company recognition, and logo entrance mats can be a subtle way to stand out from your competitors. By customising a door mat with unique designs, vibrant colours, and a clear display of the logo, businesses can differentiate themselves in the eyes of their customers. Statistics show that businesses that invest in unique branding elements enjoy a competitive edge, with a large percentage of consumers preferring to do business with brands that present a professional image from the get-go.

Encouraging Brand Loyalty

Brand loyalty starts with first impressions. A high-quality mat with good branding will not only look great and help keep your business clean, but will even play a small psychological role in building brand loyalty. It's strongly recognised that people often gravitate towards brands as a sign of trust, and with a printed logo, this can help do just that with potential customers.

Branding and Marketing Benefits

The strategic use of logo entrance mats for your business offers several branding and marketing benefits, which will turn a simple utility item into a powerful marketing tool for your brand.

A Reflection of Quality and Professionalism

Although often overlooked, the quality of your entrance mat can directly reflect upon your business's professionalism. A well-crafted, high-quality branded door mat speaks volumes about your attention to detail and consideration for others' opinions, while a poor-quality logo on a substandard mat may suggest an unprofessional business, which can inadvertently turn away potential clients before they've warmed to your business.

The Power of First Impressions

In the business world, first impressions are huge. A quality doormat printed with your company logo is a small yet eye-catching way to present your business to future clients. It's essentially the first step in your relationship with visitors, which is why subtle moves like incorporating a company mat can be an effective part of your marketing strategy.

The Silent Salesperson

As soon as visitors walk through the door, business logo mats send an immediate brand message before a word is even spoken. This unspoken communication conveys your brand's professionalism and attention to detail while also setting the tone for the customer experience. A well-designed logo mat acts as a welcoming gesture, subtly influencing perceptions and reinforcing brand identity in the minds of your visitors.

Maximise Visibility with Every Step

By placing your company logo where it can be seen immediately by visitors, you ensure your brand is memorable. This is an effective part of a long-term strategy, which can have a positive effect on company perception and attracting new customers.

Professionalism and Aesthetics

The placing of logo entrance mats at your doorway allows you to create a friendly and welcoming environment as soon as customers walk through the door. An entrance logo effectively presents a serious company dedicated to making a good initial impression. By investing in a custom door mat, you can create a positive atmosphere that radiates professionalism and attentiveness, ensuring that every customer walking through your door starts with the right impression.

Safety and Protection

Floor mats are a necessary weapon for helping to reduce unnecessary slips or falls caused by wet floors. When faced with damp weather conditions, a doormat acts as an effective barrier in preventing these unnecessary accidents. By choosing mats with slip-resistant backings like PVC, you're also less likely for the mat itself to slide, making them some of the most effective mats when it comes to safety. By investing in a door mat, you're investing in an environment that takes health and safety seriously.

Durability and Maintenance Advantages

Choosing doormats made from high-quality materials is essential for the longevity of your mat. To ensure that your mat is here for the long-term, regular maintenance is key. For rubber doormats primarily used outdoors, a simple hose down can be the best solution, whereas indoor mats, particularly ones made of coir, can be simply brushed down with a good carpet brush, or given a once-over with the vacuum upholstery attachment. Avoiding harsh chemicals and direct sunlight is recommended to help prevent your mat from degrading prematurely. By following these simple tips, your business can maximise the longevity of your custom door mats, ensuring they continue to offer a warm welcome to business clients with their every visit.

Customisation and Creativity

Having a custom doormat also allows you to get creative, and receive a mat that's tailored to your unique requirements, making it truly bespoke for your business.

Custom Design

Your logo will typically be printed, or cut and inlaid with your own company branding – the latter ensuring that your branding remains vibrant and intact throughout the lifespan of the mat. Your design could be a company logo or even a slogan to show off your company's personality.

Custom Sizing

Choosing a custom logo mat also gives you the freedom to choose a specific sizing for your doormat. This customisation allows for a perfect fit in any entryway, irrespective of its dimensions, ensuring that the mat serves its purpose effectively. Whether yours is a standard door size or a grand entrance, your mat can be cut to your specific requirements, ensuring you have a mat that fits perfectly in your doorway.

Cost-Effectiveness and Long-Term Value

It's important to recognise that investing in logo door mats extends beyond the initial expense. These mats offer substantial long-term benefits for your business and are a strategic investment in your brand's image and the safety of your environment. Not only this, over time these mats effectively contribute to reducing cleaning costs and preserving interior flooring by effectively trapping dirt and moisture at the door. This durability, coupled with the timeless marketing value of having your brand prominently displayed emphasises the cost-effectiveness of logo door mats.

Conclusion

By investing in custom floor mats for your business, you're not only boosting the visual appeal of your entrance but showcasing your brand's commitment to professionalism and customer care. Branded door mats act as a constant reminder of your business's identity, and can potentially make a lasting impression from the moment customers step into your premises. At Make an Entrance, we've made it our livelihood in making quality bespoke mats that fit the unique requirements of our customers. Whatever you have in mind for your entrance, we're sure we can provide the perfect mat for your business.

The Purpose and Power of a Logo

While a logo's design is important, its role goes way beyond simple aesthetic appeal and becomes the icon of a company's identity. It's through this method of understanding that we recognise the primary purpose of a logo - identification.

Acting as the silent partner of your brand, a logo will sow itself into the minds of potential customers, making it a highly effective tool for both branding and marketing. A strong logo serves as a unique signifier of who you are, the quality and type of products or services you offer, and the ethos of your brand.

First Impressions Matter

Did you know that people form judgments about others in just 7 seconds of meeting them? When it comes to business, people are just as judgmental, which is why good first impressions are so important when it comes to business. A great small business logo is a distillation of a company's essence, and a visual ambassador that radiates professionalism – an attribute that customers find highly attractive. Logos are symbols of values and they are designed not only to capture but to captivate the gaze of your clientele, so your business is recognised wherever they see it.

The Role of a Logo in Brand Recognition

Brand recognition should be a major part of every company's strategy for long-term success. A recognised brand is a pillar aspect that consumers lean on when choosing between the familiar and the unknown. An established brand is seen as a safe pair of hands, which is why creating a visual identity that can be seen across a wide range of mediums should be an essential part of your branding strategy. A recognised brand with a good service or products also fosters brand loyalty, which is something else to consider.

Differentiating Your Brand

When it comes to business, differentiating your brand should go further than just offering better products. Focusing on creating a solid visual presence that ingrains the brand's identity in the minds of your clientele should be a main goal for your business. By having a decent logo that's instantly recognised and leaves a lasting impression, you will ensure that your brand is the go-to choice for customers seeking your services. A well-designed company logo, therefore, isn't just a symbol, but a strategic tool that leverages differentiation.

Implementing Your Logo in Business Strategy

While your logo is important for brand recognition and business overall, it's essentially just one piece of the brand strategy puzzle. The true power of a logo comes to life with effective storytelling through design, which will radiate a brand's ethos and story in a way that resonates with your target audience.

When considering where to implement your logo in both digital and physical marketing channels, the strategy must be tailored to meet the evolving needs of your customers. It's also important not to limit your branding to one specific marketing channel – this can entail thoughtful placement on digital sources including social media, and physical media such as business cards, letterheads, product packaging, and business mats.

Logo as the Foundation of Your Brand Identity

Being essentially the face of your brand, a well-designed logo creates a connection with your target audience and plays its own role in transforming passive onlookers into engaged customers. The power of a logo can act as a unifying force that ensures consistency across all marketing materials. When displayed on different platforms or various marketing channels, the consistent presence of your logo will reinforce your brand's message and increase recognition.

The 7 Types of Logos and Their Application to Doormats

While possessing a striking and recognised logo is recommended for every business, having a logo means nothing without application. By applying your logo and branding to your company doormat, you're subtly demonstrating a respectable business status to your clientele every time they walk through the door. This subtle yet effective method for reinforcing brand identity can play a significant part in your wider brand strategy. Once decided on your choice of mat application, it's now a decision of what type of logo you require for your doormat.

Abstract Logos

When it comes to logo design, the need for your brand to distinguish itself from your competitors is more or less essential. Choosing an abstract logo that's a bit out of the ordinary can be a great way to obtain instant brand recognition, and help develop a marketable brand identity. The Nike swoosh logo is a prime example of a unique and memorable logo.

Mascot Logos

Typically a popular choice for food companies, mascot logos stand out for their customer-friendly branding. By displaying a colourful character on your logo or branding, you're providing a visually-engaging entity that attracts loyalty and affection towards a brand. For example, as kids, we're often drawn to the colourful characters depicted on cereal boxes. These personalities don't just advertise the product, but show off the brand's personality, making mascot logos inviting to consumers and an effective marketing tool.

Combination Marks

A common choice for companies aiming to strike a perfect balance between imagery and text in their business logo. The combination mark integrates a memorable icon or image alongside the brand name, allowing for versatility across various media. The text and image can be used together for full impact or separately in contexts where space is limited or a more minimalist approach is preferred.

Lettermarks and Wordmarks

Lettermarks and wordmarks stand out for their simplicity and directness, often becoming the emblem of choice for brands seeking to capitalise on name recognition. A lettermark allows companies to craft a minimalist yet powerful emblem from their initials, making the logo easily recognised, even in the smallest of spaces. Wordmarks, on the other hand, take the full company name and elevate it through typography. Selecting a traditional font or a simple custom typeface is advised to ensure that your logo is readable (no handwriting fonts recommended!)

Emblem Logos

Typically designed as text within a symbol, emblem logos are reminiscent of ancient family crests, and are very much considered traditional business logos. This logo type is particularly effective for businesses looking to portray an established brand image, and in the context of doormats, suggests that each piece is well-crafted and carries the weight of tradition. These logos make a popular choice for businesses seeking a traditional and classic look.

Pictorial Marks

Otherwise known as brand marks, these logos can show off a company's identity through a simple single image. Apple is a good example of a brand who use this style of image in their branding, which is recognised globally. By using graphic design in creating a simple eye-catching brand logo, you can majorly boost your brand's visibility and recall.

Selecting the Right Type for Your Business

Choosing the right type of logo for your business is a big decision that relies on the understanding of your target audience and the core values you wish to convey through your brand. When deciding on the most suitable logo design, the demographics and psychographics of your target audience, i.e. age, interests, lifestyle, and values is essential for building a connection. All in all, whether you opt for an emblem, wordmark or pictorial mark, your chosen logo type should radiate your brand's voice and contribute to building recognition in consumers' minds.

Designing Your Brand's Doormat Logo

Using a unique logo for your doormat is a great way of expanding your overall branding strategy while getting your company logo in front of current and potential clients. Despite being easily overlooked as a strategy, doormats are essentially one of the first things visitors will see as they enter your business, so the importance of an eye-catching logo shouldn't be understated.

In terms of the doormat's logo design, there are a handful of things that should be considered...

Importance of Typography

Typography is a vital logo element that should convey your brand's personality and what your brand stands for. An unprofessional font can have a damaging effect on your brand's image, and risks alienating potential customers at first glance. Your choice of typeface should be readable, and we'd recommend in a sans-serif font for a slicker design. It's important to remember, that a logo's typography isn't just a matter of design, but is a strategic decision that could define your brand's journey.

Choosing the Right Colours

Colours have the power to evoke specific emotions and have an influence on consumer behaviour, which makes choosing the right colours an important part of the design process – this is where understanding colour psychology becomes invaluable. Your chosen logo colours ideally shouldn't only showcase your brand's personality but also ensure your brand stands out in an ever-competitive marketplace. Bold colours usually provide an aura of confidence and are good at capturing attention, which makes them a good option for brands looking to portray those attributes. Whatever your choice of logo colours, your company's brand message should come top of the tree, first and foremost, without clashing with the colour(s) of your doormat.

Incorporating Simple, Iconic Elements

When considering which elements to place in your design, there are a few motifs that seem to have stood the test of time for their universal appeal.

  • Animals can accentuate your brand with traits typically associated with the animal chosen – a lion projects strength and wisdom, for example.
  • Florals can soften a brand's appearance, adding a touch of nature's elegance.
  • Frames can focus attention and project structure and stability.
  • Light bulbs are typically based around ideas and enlightenment.
  • Shields and crests convey a sense of tradition, heritage, and protection, resonating well with brands that aim to project trustworthiness.

Of course these elements are a matter of choice. Creating the perfect logo is more than simply selecting appealing icons – it requires a clear reflection on whether these symbols align with your brand's core identity and the message you wish to send. It's important to ask yourself, 'Do the icons make sense to my brand and niche?'.

By prioritising simplicity and relevance in your logo, you essentially pave the way in establishing a strong, recognisable brand identity.

Are you constantly adjusting your door mat because it just won't stay in place? It's a common annoyance many of us face, but the good news is, there are effective solutions.

In this article, we'll look into how to stop a door mat from moving, ensuring that your door mats remain firmly where you want them – adding both functionality and style to your entranceway without the daily fuss.

Make sure your welcome door mat stays in place, read on below to find out more

Understanding Why Door Mats Move

It's a common misconception that door mats simply stay put once laid down. However, the reality is that various factors contribute to their unexpected shifts. The type of carpet underneath can play a significant role – for instance, a plush, deep-pile carpet may not offer the same grip as a low-pile one. Similarly, smooth wooden flooring can be particularly challenging, as mats can easily glide over its sleek surface, creating a potential trip hazard. Recognising these underlying causes is the first step towards ensuring a safer and more stable entranceway.

Our All Weather Made to Measure Matting you can select the type of antislip backing suited to the floor type it will be sat on

The Importance of Mat Quality

When selecting a door mat, it's not just about looks – though appearance is obviously an important factor. The quality plays a major role in its functionality. High-quality mats, often found in reputable carpet stores, offer better grip and durability, ensuring they stay in place. A mat that keeps shifting or rug moving can be a tripping hazard, especially in high-traffic areas.

Investing in a good-quality mat not only improves the look of your entrance, but also helps safeguard against injuries, making it a wise choice for both safety and style.

Tips To Prevent Your Door Mat From Moving

Ensuring your door mat remains steady underfoot is above anything a matter of safety. A shifting mat can be a tripping hazard, especially in high-traffic areas.

In this section, we'll explore various methods and solutions to keep your mat firmly in place, improving both the functionality and appearance of your doorway.

1. Use Anti Slip Underlay

Anti Slip Underlay is an easy add on to ensure your doormat doesn't slip

One of the most effective ways to prevent door mats (or rugs) slipping on smooth surfaces is the use of an anti-slip underlay. Designed to ensure your door mat stays put on the floor where it belongs, this underlay is most beneficial when used on smooth floors, such as wood or tile.

Not only limited to these wood or tiles, the underlay can also be applied on any type of carpet. By adding this layer beneath your floor mats, you can massively prevent movement, ensuring that your doormats remains in place, and thus eliminating the risk of visitors slipping and sliding.

2. Purchase a Door Mat with an Anti Slip Backing

Purchasing a door mat with an anti-slip backing can be a game-changer in maintaining the mat's position. These backings are designed to be smooth, ensuring optimum contact with the floor and reducing the chances of unwanted movement.

Our Synthetic Doormat range is made from washable carpet or scraper pile with a nitrile rubber backing. We can also match the backing type to suit the type of flooring that the mat will be placed on. For carpet surfaces, a backing is applied which has cleats that grasp onto the carpet pile.

Close up of the backing added to our personalised doormats when they are sat on carpet to ensure they are anti slip

3. Create a Frame around the Mat

This option is worth considering if building a mat well recess is not an option. Beading / Edging strips are easily sourced from DIY / Hardware shops, and are used to create a frame around the mat which is glued or screwed to the floor. Although this is quite a straightforward process, a level of DIY skill is needed in cutting down the beading / edging, assembling the frame and then securing it in place. It's also a more permanent approach that will affect your flooring, since the frame will be attached to the floor. Our Cut to Size matting is perfect for building a frame around.

4. Build a Mat Well / Recess

This is the most permanent solution and probably the most effective for how to stop a door mat from moving . It's easier to build a mat well when new flooring is being laid, as all that is needed is to leave a space around the door way for the door mat to be installed. Creating a mat well within existing flooring is trickier, and therefore may require the help of a local builder / handyman. If you're looking to build a mat well or looking for guidance on how to measure your mat well for a new doormat, check out our article on How to Make a Matwell.

Rubber door mats are the perfect addition to any home or office entrance. They are designed to keep dirt and debris from entering your space. But, like all things, rubber door mats need regular cleaning in order to stay keep looking their best.

In this blog, we'll be delving into how to clean your rubber door mat, so that it can continue to do its job!

Rubber Door Mats are the best mats to use outdoors. Not only do they look great they also withstand the test of the British weather.

Top Tips For Cleaning Rubber Door Mats

Let's take a look at the best way to get started with cleaning your door mat:

1. Hoover Or Shake

Start by hoovering your rubber door mat with a handheld vacuum or attachment. Make sure to pay attention to the grooves and crevices, as these are areas where dirt and debris can get trapped. Alternatively, you can go outside, and give these rubber mats a good shake. This will make sure any pesky bits of dirt are dislodged from the surface of the mat.

2. Rinse

Next, take your rubber entrance mats outside and rinse them off with a garden hose or a bucket of warm soapy water. Be sure to rinse away all the loose dirt and loose debris that has accumulated on it for the best results. Pressure washers can be used for this part of the process with outdoor doormats.

3. Scrub

After rinsing, use a scrub brush to work the soap into the surface of your mat and remove any stubborn dirt or stains. As your mat is made from rubber, which is a water-resistant material, you won't need to worry about it getting damaged during this process.

4. Rinse Again

Make sure to rinse away all the soap and scrubbing residue from your mat with the garden hose or a bucket of warm water. You should allow rubber floor mats to dry fully before bringing them back inside.

Cleaning Coir Matting

Here at Make an Entrance, we take pride in the range of door mats that we offer to our customers. That's why we also offer rubber matting with coir inserts so that you can enjoy the benefits of matting that is water-absorbent, as well as sturdy.

Striped Patio Outdoor Rubber Doormat to make sure your entrance is fully covered

However, when cleaning coir matting, you'll need to take an alternative approach. Coir is water absorbent, which means that it can become saturated and water-logged if you get it wet through cleaning.

This matting needs to be shaken or brushed with a stiff brush to remove dirt, debris and dust. We'd also recommend letting any mud stains dry and then using a stiff bristle broom to further loosen any stubborn grime that has built up over time.

Avoid using carpet shampoo, baking soda or any other harsh cleaner on this material. As it is a natural product, it will damage it in the long run.

Are Door Mats Machine Washable?

Our range of rubber door mats are not machine washable. This is because the rubber material can shrink and become distorted if placed in washing machines. Therefore, it's best to follow the steps outlined above when it comes to cleaning your door mat.

How Often Should Door Mats Be Cleaned?

We recommend that you clean your rubber door mat at least once every month, whether that's just a once over with a vacuum cleaner or a deep clean. This will ensure that dirt and debris don't get trapped in the grooves or crevices of the mat, and that your entrance looks as welcoming and inviting as possible. This can also help with the longevity of your rubber door mat, as dirt trapped on the surface can cause and tear over time.

We hope that this blog has been helpful in teaching you how to clean your rubber door mat and keep it looking its best. Have a question we didn't cover? Send us a message today, and our expert team will be ready to help!

Rubber mats are some of the easiest mats to clean due to the fact you can use water on them. This means they don't have carpet pile like coir, so you don't have to worry about shedding. In addition, you don't need to purchase any special type of carpet cleaner either.

But, like all things, rubber door mats need regular cleaning in order to stay keep looking their best. In this blog, we’ll be delving into how to clean your rubber […]

Key Takeaways

Material and Location Considerations:

  • The material of the logo doormat is crucial and depends on whether it will be placed indoors or outdoors. For outdoor mats, water-resistant materials like rubber are recommended to prevent waterlogging. For indoor mats, absorbent materials like coir and carpet are suitable. Coir is especially popular for its eco-friendly nature and longevity. The location also influences the decision between lift and lay mats, which are easy to clean and maintain, and recessed mats, which offer a sleek look and are set into mat wells.

Budget and Durability:

  • Budget is essential, with prices varying based on materials and customisation. While considering cost, it’s also vital to consider the long-term value and return on investment, as high-quality mats can last longer and provide better branding impact. Durability is essential to ensure the mat withstands constant foot traffic and environmental elements without fading, fraying, or losing functionality.

Design Complexity and Branding Impact:

  • The complexity of the logo design plays a crucial role in determining the cost, production time, and branding impact of the mat. More straightforward methods are cost-effective and efficient, while advanced printing technologies can handle detailed designs. Every line and colour in the logo will be meticulously printed, potentially increasing the price and enhancing branding impact. Seeking advice from the mat manufacturer or a graphic designer can help optimise the design for aesthetic appeal and brand recognition.

Let's take a look at them:

Material

Rubber Logo Mat perfect for areas that may get wet

When choosing custom door mats, there are a wide range of materials to choose from, so deciding on the right one can be a challenge. If you're ordering a personalised logo mat for the outdoors, we'd recommend a rubber mat as these are specially designed to be water-resistant. If you choose a water-absorbent material for outdoor use, there's a high chance that it can become waterlogged and ineffective over time.

Carpet Textile Logo Mat can be made in over 70 colours.

If you're after an indoor mat, we'd recommend materials such as coir and carpet due to their absorbency. These personalised logo mats are the perfect way to absorb moisture, dirt and other bits of grime before they can be brought inside. Coir matting is also a particularly popular choice due to its eco-friendly nature and longevity.

Overall, the type of mat you'll buy will depend on whether you're after an outdoor commercial entrance mat or an indoor one! Here at Make An Entrance, we stock a wide range of entrance mats and can personalise them to include your business logo, slogan or with anything you'd like!

Budget

Another essential consideration when purchasing a custom logo mat is its cost. The prices of logo mats can vary significantly based on the materials and customisation process

Here at Make an Entrance, our high-quality carpet mats and outdoor commercial entrance mats are budget-friendly options starting at £39.99. If you're looking for a durable personalised logo mat, particularly for outdoor use, rubber mats could be a good choice, though they are a bit more expensive, starting from £74.99.

For those who want highly durable mats with a natural aesthetic, coir mats are available, starting from £129.99. It's important to consider the return on investment and understand that a good quality mat can last longer and provide better branding impact.

While considering the cost is essential, it's also vital to consider the value the mat will add to your business in the long term. High-quality, attractive logo mats can enhance your entrance, making a strong impression on clients and visitors. Your logo mat purchase will continue to benefit your business for years!

The Complexity of Your Design

The design of your logo plays a key role in not only reflecting your brand image but also in determining the cost and production time of your mat.

As a general rule, simpler designs can be a cost-effective and efficient choice as they translate easily onto mats. On the other hand, if your logo is more complex, fear not! Our skilled workshop team make a range of logos with a range of designs in an impressive range of colours. While the execution of these designs might be more time-consuming, the result is a striking and unique representation of your brand that visitors will remember.

Remember, every line and colour in your logo will be meticulously inlaid onto the mat. Even though this may increase the price slightly, it’s a worthwhile investment for its superior branding impact. If your design is complex, consider seeking advice from us beforehand call 020 8819 5869 or email help@makeanentrance.com. We can help to optimise your plan for the mat, making it aesthetically pleasing and easily identifiable from a distance or even when partially obscured. In the end, it's all about creating that perfect balance between design complexity, budget considerations, production time, and impactful branding.

The Location of the Mat

As mentioned earlier, the material of your logo mats will vary depending on the location of the mat.

Indoors

If you plan on placing your personalised door mat inside, we recommend choosing coir logo mats or carpets. This is because a coir mat is water-absorbent and designed for indoor use, and so is its carpet counterpart.

Outdoors

If you want a floor mat for the outdoors, we'd recommend not using coir matting but opting for rubber or one specifically designed for outdoor use. These mats will still absorb dirt and moisture but act as a first line of defence. For best results, we recommend placing inside door mats on the other side, as this will be the most effective combination at trapping dirt when paired with an outdoor mat.

Durability

Another important factor to consider is durability, as this will ensure your mat lasts long-term. All of our custom logo mats are crafted to endure constant foot traffic, and depending on the material, they may also be exposed to environmental elements such as rain or harsh sunlight. As such, you'll want to invest in a mat that can withstand these conditions without fading, fraying, or losing its functionality.

Lift and Lay or Recessed?

Another factor you must consider is whether you want a lift and lay mat or a recessed one. Lift and lay mats are ones you find in entrances, as they're able to be laid down easily, which makes cleaning and maintenance easy. At the same time, recessed mats are designed to be set into mat wells, as they provide a sleek, professional look and are a popular choice for businesses.

Coir Inlay Logo Mat recessed into a matwell/recess

Both options have their merits, and your choice will depend on your specific needs, the nature of your premises, and your personal preference.

We hope this blog has given you some insight into the factors you should consider when purchasing a logo doormat. For more information, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team. We'll be more than happy to help and assist with any orders or questions you may have.

Logo Door Mat FAQs:

We've answered some of the most frequently asked questions about logo entrance mats below:

How do I choose a door mat?

To choose a door mat, you'll want to think about the features that are important to you. E.g. is durability a priority over design, or is there a specific material you have in mind? To choose a doormat, you'll want to list everything you want from your mat and then choose a material that accommodates these factors.

What's the first thing to consider when buying a door mat?

The first thing to consider is usually material; once you know this, there are many options. We'd recommend coir or carpet if you want a doormat for indoor use. Alternatively, if you're looking for an outdoor mat, we'd recommend rubber or an outdoor mat.

What type of door mat is best?

No specific mat can be defined as the 'best'. However, coir is very popular due to its eco-friendly nature, as well as the fact it is absorbent and effective and traps dirt and moisture.

Should door mat be bigger than door?

Your door mat should be as wide as the width of your door to ensure maximum efficiency.

If you’re considering investing in logo door mats for your business, it’s crucial to make the right decision as these mats not only serve a functional purpose but also significantly boost your brand image. Luckily, in this blog, we’ll be going through how you can find the right custom logo mats for your business, including […]

Have you ever wondered why your office floor doesn't get drenched and dirty during a storm? Or how some shops manage to keep their floors gleaming despite the constant foot traffic? The answer lies right beneath your feet, hard-working feature known as barrier matting.

Dual action barrier matting

In this post, we'll unpack everything there is to know about barrier matting - its various forms, functions, and its role in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring safety, all while adding to the aesthetic appeal of your space. Let's take a look at it.

Key Takeaways

Definition and Functionality:

  • Barrier matting is a specialized type of floor covering designed to trap and hold dirt, moisture, and other particles, preventing them from spreading into the interior spaces of buildings. It is often placed at entrances and high-traffic areas as the first defence against unwanted dirt and debris. Barrier matting is used in various settings, including residential buildings, commercial spaces, and industrial sites, to maintain cleanliness, enhance safety, and sometimes for anti-fatigue purposes.

Materials and Types:

  • Barrier mats are made from various materials, including coir and rubber, chosen for their robustness, practicality, and visual appeal. Coir, sourced from coconut husks, is excellent at tackling hard-to-remove dirt, while rubber is water-repelling and ideal for areas with high footfall. Coir mats are suitable for dry indoor spaces, and rubber mats are great for wet outdoor conditions or areas exposed to high foot traffic.

Installation and Maintenance:

  • Barrier mats can be installed in a mat well for a neat finish and stability, but it is unnecessary as loose-lay barrier mats are also popular for convenience. They are easy to clean and maintain; coir mats can be cleaned by shaking or using a stiff brush, and rubber mats can be cleaned with a damp cloth or hosed down for thorough cleaning. Make An Entrance is a leading supplier in the UK, offering diverse barrier matting solutions designed to meet various needs.

So, What is Barrier Matting?

Barrier matting is a specialised type of floor covering designed to trap and hold dirt, moisture, and other particles, preventing them from spreading into the interior spaces of buildings. Often placed at entrances and high-traffic areas, it serves as the first line of defense, or 'barrier', against unwanted dirt and debris carried by foot traffic.

Barrier mats are available in a variety of materials and sizes, including rubber and coir, among others. Known for their effectiveness in preserving cleanliness, reducing additional maintenance costs, and enhancing safety by reducing slip hazards, these are a crucial hygiene element in residential and commercial buildings.

What is Barrier Matting Made From?

Here at Make An Entrance, our wide range of high quality barrier matting is crafted from a selection of materials chosen for their robustness, practicality, and visual appeal. Some of the key materials we use include coir and rubber. The tough fibres of coir, a natural material sourced from coconut husks, are excellent at tackling hard-to-remove dirt. Meanwhile, rubber, known for its water-repelling and hard-wearing properties, is an ideal choice for areas exposed to high footfall and large amounts of dirt and moisture.

How Do Barrier Entrance Mats Work?

Barrier entrance mats are the first line of defense against dirt, moisture, and other debris that can be carried into a building on the soles of shoes. When someone steps on the mat, the design and materials of the mat trap these particles. This can help commercial offices to comply with building regulations and other hygiene rules.

Coir mats for instance, feature fibres that scrape off and hold onto dirt, wand they are able to trap and absorb moisture rather than letting it spread to internal floors. As a result, dirt doesn't make its way into the building, keeping the interior spaces cleaner and safer.

What types of Barrier Matting Systems are Available?

As mentioned, coir and rubber are two main types of barrier matting systems available at Make An Entrance, but our offerings extend beyond that. Coir mats are excellent for dry, indoor areas where their natural, rugged fibers can efficiently scrape off dirt from shoes. Rubber mats, which are robust and water-resistant, are great for wet, outdoor conditions or areas exposed to high foot traffic. These types of entrance matting will help prevent any slip accidents cause by wet floors.

Where is Barrier Matting Used?

Barrier matting is used in a wide range of settings due to its ability to trap dirt and moisture, thus protecting interior spaces from contamination and reducing maintenance costs. These settings include:

  1. Residential Buildings: Homes often use barrier mats at their entrances and garages to prevent dirt and debris from being tracked inside.
  2. Commercial Buildings: Offices, shops, and other commercial spaces use barrier mats in entranceways and other high-traffic areas to maintain cleanliness and ensure safe access.
  3. Industrial Sites: Factories, warehouses, and workshops may use barrier matting in entrances, exits, and workstations for safety, cleanliness, and sometimes, anti-fatigue purposes.

Why do I need Barrier Matting?

Let's explore the main reasons why you business needs barrier matting systems:

Maintain Cleanliness

Barrier matting is an effective way to control the spread of dirt, dust, and moisture from entrances into the interior spaces of a building. This not only helps to keep the premises clean, reducing the amount of cleaning required, but it also protects floor surfaces from wear and tear caused by debris.

Enhance Safety

By trapping moisture and reducing the amount of water tracked into a building, barrier matting minimises the risk of slips and falls. This is particularly crucial in areas with high foot traffic or where children or elderly people might be moving around.

Improve Aesthetics

Besides the functional benefits, barrier matting can also enhance the visual appeal of an entrance. With a variety of styles, colours, and materials available, it can be tailored to complement the decor of the building, making a positive first impression on visitors.

Do the barrier mats have to be installed in a mat well?

While installing barrier mats in a mat well can offer a neat, flush finish with the surrounding floor, it is not an absolute necessity. The decision largely depends on the specific needs and area the mat will be placed in.

For instance, mats installed in a well are less likely to move, provide a level surface reducing the risk of tripping, and can accommodate larger, heavier-duty mats. However, loose lay barrier mats are quite popular as they're easier to install, can be moved and cleaned more conveniently, and don't require any specific floor modifications like a mat well.

Is this type of barrier matting easy to clean and maintain?

Yes, rubber matting is incredibly easy to clean and maintain due to the material's it is made from. For instance, coir mats can be cleaned by a simple shake to remove the loose dirt. For a deeper clean, a stiff brush can be used if needed once the dirt has dried completley. Rubber mats, on the other hand, can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth and can even be hosed down for more thorough cleaning.

We have some fantastic news to share with you this month.

Our family business, which we started together over 18 years ago back in 2005 has been named “Small Family Business of the Year 2023”

The prestigious Family Business of the Year Awards were held in June at the Royal College of Physicians at Regents Park in London. The awards celebrate the very best family businesses across the UK.

Make An Entrance wins Small Family Business of the Year 2023
James Shore of award sponsor SME Capital with Samantha and Stuart Burlton Co-Founders of Make An Entrance

About the Awards:

Awards are given by region, by sector, and for specific attributes such as entrepreneurship, sustainability, and innovation.

It was a very nerve-wracking evening for us. We thought that we were in the running for the Midlands and Central region, as we are based in Lincolnshire. But this category was announced and we hadn’t won.

Slowly as the evening unfolded, many awards were given out in areas where we excel such as sustainability and we still didn’t win. The ceremony was almost at a close with only two awards left to go so we concluded that we weren’t going to come away with an award and would have to content ourselves with being finalists, which is still a great achievement.

And then the final two awards were announced. The first of which is the national award for smaller businesses with under 40 employees. The second goes to a much bigger business such as a national chain.

Would we win?

As the description of the winner started our ears pricked up. The business was from Lincolnshire!

The rest of the words passed in a blur as we started to think we might have a shot. And then they announced that the overall award for Small Family Business of the Year 2023 goes to Make An Entrance.

What the Judges said:

“The family has built an award-winning business with an incredible web presence and become a market leader in what they do, rekindling the art of a traditional craft that was being lost.

The duo behind the business is a formidable force and entrepreneurial in nature, treating others as they want to be treated themselves.  They are professional and commercial, kind and valued as a business and a business at the heart of their community.  Sustainability plays its part and innovation drives the business forward.”

James Shore, Head of Family Business at SME Capital who sponsored the Small Family Business of the Year award

How we felt about it

We were completely overwhelmed. We are so proud that this business that we created as newlyweds back in 2005 following in the footsteps of Stuart’s Dad had achieved something truly special.

Running a small family business is hard work at times and the last few years have presented significant challenges for us as UK manufacturers.

What the Awards Organiser said:

“Family businesses are the engine room of the UK economy and these awards celebrate their contribution.  It was great to bring the family business community back together in person to recognise the incredible family firms that operate throughout the UK and to crown some fantastic winners.”

“Congratulations to Make An Entrance on winning this award.  It is fantastic recognition of what they do as a business and it was a pleasure to present them with the award during a fantastic evening that once more put the family business sector on the map.”

Awards organiser, Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of Family Business United

In 2023 at Make An Entrance we are supporting one of our favourite local charities. The Acts Trust is a Christian charity in Lincoln that empowers people to end poverty.

Stuart Burlton, MD of Make An Entrance presented Simon Hawking CEO of Act's Trust with our donations.

The Act's Trust programmes across Lincoln include:

  • The Night Light Cafes are a safe space at night for those having a mental health crisis.
  • The Lincoln Foodbank provides food aid to people in need.
  • The Community Grocery where for only £4 people in desperate need can fill a basket with an essential food shop.
  • Restore empowering those 18+ with skills, opportunities and friendship
  • Energize Youth Work services into schools and local communities

We may only be a Matting Manufacturer but this matters, and Lincoln is our home so we want to help in any way that we can.

So we have gifted some logo mats to brighten up the new Community Grocery.

Lincoln Community Grocery - fill a bag with gorgeous fresh food for just £4

We also ran a charity pub quiz evening with our friends at Beerheadz, an amazing pub in Lincoln's Bailgate area serving high-quality and unusual beers. It's one of our favourite haunts and it was great to be able to have fun with members of our local community and raise money for such an important charity at the same time.

We raised £300 and had a great time doing it.

The Alive Cafe is on the same site as the community grocery and serves delicious affordable food.

Thank you, Simon Hawking, for your inspirational leadership at Acts Trust, and to our team members Anna Parkinson and Matthew Shepperson for organising the Quiz.

We specialise in bespoke matting, so when our neighbour Reflect Recruitment in Lincoln got in touch to request a custom logo mat for their new office we were absolutely thrilled.

Although we can work very quickly and produce mats for customers in only a matter of days, the more notice we have the better so it was wonderful that we've had several months to work with Reflect Recruitment discussing their exact requirements and ensuring that their finished mat is absolutely perfect.

Ben, one of our mat makers, went along to install the mat.

Even before they had the keys we were able to offer advice about the right type of matting for their needs. Doormats may look pretty similar to the uninitiated but actually there a quite a lot of factors to consider.

Factors to consider in choosing a custom logo mat:

Some of the things we will ask are:

  • Indoors or Outdoors?
  • Mat well or Freestanding?
  • Logo or Plain?
  • How much clearance is under the door?
  • Who is available to clean the mat?
  • How much foot traffic will the mat get?

All of these factors influence the type of mat we would recommend.

Don't worry, if you ever need to call us for advice (020 8819 5869), we never try to talk you into anything, we just want to ensure that all our customers end up with the perfect mat for their unique set of circumstances. That way it will look good for as long as possible and do its job of keeping your internal floor coverings looking pristine too.

Stages in the process of purchasing a logo doormat from us:

  • Initial discussion to talk about requirements & you provide us a copy of your logo
  • Your named account manager will email you a quote and description of what we recommend
  • If you are happy with the quote we produce an artwork
  • You approve the artwork, or we amend it until you're happy
  • Once the artwork is approved, we produce the mat
  • Mat is delivered to you around 15 working days from the artwork sign off

Here's what our customer thinks about our service:

A BIG THANK YOU to Make an Entrance.

Our new office, based on Newark Road, North Hykeham now has a striking new coir mat in the entrance, the colours are vibrant and it catches the eye, dealing with Anna and the team has been a pleasure, thank you.

Caroline Alton, Executive Manager at Reflect Recuitment

We don't generally offer a fitting service but we did go and fit this mat and have some great pictures to share with you. We'll follow up with another blog detailing how to fit a coir logo mat.

The finished mat created the perfect welcome to Reflect Recruitment's new premises.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoyed seeing the beautiful mat we made for Reflect Recruitment. If you are interested in a mat for your business, please get in touch, our business team would love to help you.
